The Bees and Trees

SRI engages in a mix of projects - though all have an educational theme.

Developing a 40-tree organic Chestnut orchard is a hand's-on education that delivers a collective understanding of many of the issues facing agriculture - organic cultural practices, weather extremes, pest control, and hopefully, harvesting and marketing.

Similarly, our two-hive apiary has brought us face to face with the issues confronting bees.

In the future we hope to expand our hands-on activity to include a 30 family organic CSA. We have space to develop a green house.
